About the Elephant Ear Betta

The Elephant Ear Betta, also known as the Dumbo Betta, is a striking Betta splendens lineage distinguished by its large, elephant-ear-like pectoral fins that give it a unique and elegant appearance. These visually captivating fish are available in many vibrant colors and patterns, and while they are hardy, they require specific care, including a gentle filter and a diet of high-quality pellets and live foods. 
Similarly seen across other lineages of domestic betta, planted aquariums are the preferred environment of this fish as well.

Husbandry & Care:

Temperament: Peaceful to Semi-Aggressive. Domestic bettas can vary in aggression on an individual basis.

Minimum Tank Size: 5 Gallons for a single betta. 10+ Gallons for additional tank mates

Water Temperature: 78-84 °F

Water pH: 6.0-8.0

Social Group: Solitary

Diet: Carnivorous; Frozen Bloodworms/Brine Shrimp, Commercial Betta Diets, Live Flightless Fruit Flies

Compatible with: Neon Tetras, Bristlenose Plecos, Catfish (Corydoradinae), Amano Shrimp, Harlequin Rasboras, Chili Rasboras, Kuhli Loaches
